Lake Travis Texas

The longest of the Central Texas Highland Lakes, Lake Travis winds its way from the Northwest of Austin – for over 60 miles through the Texas Hill Country – down into the outskirts of Austin. Lake Travis is 4.5 miles wide at its widest point and has 270 miles of shoreline.

Lake Travis Real Estate is described and divided into two main areas – the North Shore and the South Shore. The North Shore of Lake Travis is not nearly as populated as the South Shore, nor is it easily accessible to or from Austin. The two largest communities on the North Shore are Jonestown, which is smaller but relatively close to US Hwy 183 and IH35; and Lago Vista, which is further out but is also more of a self-contained and established community renowned for its Golfing. Closer to Austin, the South Shore runs along Hwy. 71 on the Southwest side of Lake Travis and contains such communities as Briarcliff and Spicewood (where “Willy” lives). As you get to the bottom of the South Shore, you turn onto RR620, which runs through Lakeway and across Mansfield Dam (which separates Lake Travis from Lake Austin), until you turn North onto FM2222 to reach the community of Volente Village. However, whether you choose to live on the North or South Shore of Lake Travis, there is an endless variety in style and price of Luxury or Waterfront homes for you to choose from – all of which offer outstanding views of the Lake Travis and the surrounding Texas Hill Country.
